Visa Information
If you are over 18 years old and planning to study in the United Kingdom for a short-term course, you are eligible for a short-term study visa. For students aged 16 and over, there are two types of visas available: a Tier 4 (Child) student visa or a Tier 4 (General) student visa. Before applying for a Tier 4 (General) student visa, you need to wait until you receive an offer from a university or college. Once you have received an offer, your university or college will provide you with a document called a Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS). To obtain this, the institution you have chosen must be approved by the UK government as a ‘licensed Tier 4 sponsor’.

As an international student in the UK, you can work up to 20 hours per week during term-time and full-time during holiday breaks. This means they can work for up to 20 hours per week during term time, and for up to 40 hours per week during the holidays. On the other hand, if you are a new student applying to further education colleges (both publicly funded and private colleges), you will not be allowed to work.
